Our Story

The purpose of Winelala is to create connections… between people and moments through sensory harmony; to the present, and to the history that led to the present; to the earth that grows wine, and to the people who make wine.

About Winelala

Created by Noelle Allen, WSET Diploma holder, Winelala offers professional wine advice, education, and services. And we’re really nice about it!

We love interacting with our clients, so we make ourselves available to text and chat about wine-related questions as they arise. Clients can expect individual attention from the Winelala team and to feel confident in their wine buying decisions.

Winelala is committed to high quality, thoughtful products and services. We are working to offer larger scale, direct delivery in order to make a wider range of specialized wines available to our members. Until Winelala is able to deliver directly, our affiliate partners and fulfill our clients’ orders.

The wines we recommend are based solely on their merit and not on their availability through an affiliate, so if a direct order link is not available, please contact us and we can order the wine for you.

About Noelle Allen

I became really interested in knowing more about wine during a networking event that I attended while I was working at a large national bank. I had been in banking and finance for ten years at this point, and had earned my MBA at Villanova University.

I decided to enroll in the Wine School of Philadelphia (WSOP) to learn about wine as a side hobby, but after about a year in, I knew it was time to leave corporate America to start a new career in wine. I quit my bank job and enrolled in the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET), a London-based, best-in-class global wine training program, to pursue the Level 4 Diploma, while also continuing to study at WSOP.

In the meantime, I began traveling to Europe and across the United States to learn about and taste wine in as many regions as I could. I become more and more fascinated by the business, historic, geographic, scientific, and academic significance of industry. It was all encompassing! I started Winelala as a playful blog in 2014, but was soon being asked to make private recommendations, which then turned into requests to write wine articles and teach classes. I began speaking and teaching at wine schools, universities, corporations, and private events.

I completed the WSET Diploma in November 2018, and it was one of the most difficult and intense certifications in which I have ever participated.  Less than 10,000 individuals worldwide have earned this degree since the 1960s, and I’m super proud of this accomplishment! I never would have guessed that the networking event I tried so hard to get out of at the bank was going to be the first step to starting my own business and having a job that I love!

I live in Philadelphia, PA with my husband, dog, cat, and chinchilla. I am a yoga enthusiast, sit on the board of one of the city’s private schools, and provide financial and educational mentoring. The only thing I love more than learning about wine is taking care of animals.
