Zenato Lugana San Bennedetto 2016
The grapes for this wine were fermented in stainless steel at cool temperatures (around 60F), then the wine was aged in stainless steel. It rested in the bottle for a few months before being released for sale. This cool, gentle treatment preserves fresh citrus and floral notes found in white wines, characteristics for which Garda has become known. (This wine also might be particularly interesting because I have read a couple reviews of it that convinced me that the writers of the reviews never actually tasted the wine. Shirkers.) You will enjoy this because it does not reach too far in any direction - it’s not weird, it’s not a new style, it’s not preachy, and it’s not too intense. It’s just a very well done, full of flavor, typical wine for the region.
