New Find! Kloof Street Chenin Blanc
I became acquainted with Kloof Street’s 2019 Chenin Blanc at the Wines of South Africa in a pre-covid masterclass in Philadelphia. This bright, fresh wine has nose notes of honeysuckle, lemon cream, ripe pears, dried green herbs and wet granite, and its texturally balanced by a soft roundness. The citrus meringue and mineral finish is long and lasting.
Kloof Street is very versatile and can even serve as a breakfast wine if you’re looking for something a little different for brunch! It’s a really nice change from some of the more usual whites, and I liked it because it strikes a balance between a zesty sauvignon blanc and richer (but not buttery) chardonnay.
I was hoping this would be easily findable because sometimes it’s frustrating to recommend a wine that no one can then find. Happily, Kloof Street Chenin Blanc is available at wine.com for about $22. This is a sponsored link that will be fulfilled by my affiliate, wine.com.
(If you join wine.com’s steward program for $49, you don’t pay for shipping for a year at wine.com and there is no minimum order.)
